1decision, part of Headway learning resources, has been awarded the PSHE Association Quality Mark for its Key Stage 2 classroom materials.


With Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) reaching a pivotal point in UK schooling, and Relationships and Sex Education and Health Education becoming statutory from September 2020, this national recognition for 1decision could not be better timed.

World Mental Health Day on 10 October gives us all an opportunity to reflect on whether we are really doing enough to support young people and mental health in an ever-changing world.


The statistics are alarming: every year one adult in four, along with one child in 10, will suffer a mental health issue. Half of all mental illness begins by the age of 14, but most cases go undetected and untreated. In fact, according to UK estimates only a quarter of those with mental health problems undergo ongoing treatment. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among 15-29 year olds and is the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45.

Earlier this month, Headteachers and subject leaders gathered in Manchester to discuss the importance of Personal, Social, Health, and Economic (PSHE) Education.


The free event, hosted by Headway, brought together sector leaders to explore creative and innovative approaches to PSHE.

Watching the ITV News at Ten on Tuesday evening I was stunned, angered and deeply frustrated listening to the interview with Chief Constable Simon Bailey, child protection lead at the National Police Chiefs’ Council, saying that sex offenders who view indecent images of children online should be rehabilitated instead of jailed.

PSHE Campaigners Call for Statutory PSHE
