Children’s Mental Health Week runs from 3rd – 9th February 2025
From 3rd to 9th February 2025, schools, teachers, parents and carers across the UK will rally together to raise awareness for Children’s Mental Health Week.
Who runs it and what is the theme for 2025?
Organised by Place2B, this year’s theme ‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself’ centres around building self-awareness in children to combat mental ill health.
Why is it important to raise awareness?
According to The Mental Health of Children and Young People (MHCYP) in England 2023 report, published by NHS England, one in five (20.3%) eight to 16-year-olds had a probable mental disorder in 2023.
After a sharp rise in rates of probable mental disorders in pupils and students between 2017 – 2020, the figures for all year groups from 2022 – 2023 stabilised. Despite this encouraging plateau, continued support for mental health awareness in and outside of schools remains necessary to safeguard the future wellbeing of our children and communities.
Which Children’s Mental Health Week resources are free to access?
We recently invited children into the 1decision studio to film content for a brand-new assembly to tie-in with this years’ theme. We want to help schools engage and educate, which is why this specially created assembly focuses on understanding who we are and how to build self-awareness.
More Resources for Children’s Mental Health Week
Place2Be have joined with Walt Disney’s Inside Out 2 to highlight the importance of developing self-awareness from a young age. Schools, teachers, parents and carers can support Children’s Mental Health Week by downloading resources and sparking important conversations, which hope to encourage pupils to regularly reflect on their own wellbeing.
